Title Details
Audit execution (AUDT) (Level 4) As part of an audit team, or as the lead, coordinates all stakeholders and conducts audits within planned timescales.
Audit planning (AUDT) (Level 4) Takes responsibility for the planning and resourcing of audits and/or conformance reviews of existing and planned clinical coding processes, systems and services.
Audit point resolution (AUDT) (Level 4) Runs the action plan following a completed audit. Prepares response within agreed timescales. Tracks all actions until completed.
Audit prioritisation (AUDT) (Level 4) Participates in, or facilitates, stakeholder workshops to review requirements for planned audits, agree priorities, timescales, information disclosure approach and audit frequency. Documents agreements made.
Audit scope and requirements (AUDT) (Level 4) Contributes to, and/or leads, audit requirements definition on audits or conformance reviews. Confirms the scope and objectives of specific audit activity with management.
Review findings (AUDIT)(Level 4) Collates and analyses evidence regarding the interpretation and implementation of control measures, and/or conformance to standards, and prepares and communicates the audit report.
Risk assessment (AUDT) (Level 4) Contributes to risk assessments and participates in risk reviews. Identifies, documents and communicates the root cause of issues found.
Stakeholder engagement (AUDT) (Level 4) Engages with stakeholders to issue and review plans, reports, progress statements and approvals.
Audit roadmap (AUDT) (Level 4) Contributes to the development of the audit roadmap.
Analysis (Level Four) (BINT) Undertakes analytical activities to deliver analysis outputs in accordance with service needs and conforming to agreed standards.
Information requirements and search (Level 4) (BINT) Determines what information is required, and defines search and other criteria to meet a specified requirement.
Policies, standards, and guidelines (Level Four) (BINT) Contributes to the development of local clinical coding policy, standards and guidelines.
Security and safeguards (Level Four) (BINT) Ensures that all clinical coding activity complies with data and information security processes.
Sourcing and validation (Level Four) (BINT) Investigates available internal and external information sources to establish what information is available. Identifies and establishes the reliability and data risks of external sources of information of relevance to the operational needs of the enterprise.
Records management (RMGT)( Level 4) Conducts record collection, delivery and retention tasks ensuring ensure accessibility, retrievability, integrity, security and protection of records is maintained.
Advice and guidance (Level Four) (ANCC) Provides advice and guidance to support and encourage adherence to clinical codng policies and standards.
Clinical coding audit (Level Four) (ANCC) Leads clinical coding audits, reports and makes recommendations based on their findings. Works as part of the clinical coding management team to promote and implement improvements to address audit findings.
Coding accuracy (Level Four) (ANCC) Refers to ICD10/OPCS4 standards on a regular basis in order to process accurately coded data.
Coding quality (Level Four) (ANCC) Liaises with all staff, both clinical and non-clinical, to raise issues surrounding all aspects of the coding process and to clarify and resolve coding issues raised. Promotes clinical coding awareness and improvement by engaging with colleagues.
Coding standards (Level Four) (ANCC) Works within and maintains up to date knowledge of all coding standards published by NHS England TCDS (Classifications Service). Is responsible for updating personal coding classifications following changes to standards published by the NHS England TCDS (Classification Service).
Quality assurance (Level Four) (ANCC) Performs quality assurance checks on the work of others. Investigates and corrects complex clinical coding errors.
Ability assessment (ETDL) (Level 4) Assesses objectively, probably against pre-set criteria, the ability levels of students and reports as appropriate.
Detailed instructions and responses (ETDL) (Level 4) Provides detailed instruction as necessary and responds to wide-ranging and detailed questioning in own area(s) of specialisation.
